“One child, one teacher, one pen, and one book can change the world.”
ATLAS MOUNTAIN CENTRAL HIGH
Mission
My aim is to bring higher education to the girls and boys of the Atlas Mountain villages. I want to build a high school that teaches specialty classes that lead to useful employment.
Goals
My goal is to provide an educational opportunity to the girls and boys of the Atlas Mountain villages, an opportunity that was not readily available to me. I completed 6th grade in my village of Aremd. Cultural norm did not allow me to continue to go to 7th grade because the high school is located in a distant town. I would have had to board at the school and this is not socially acceptable in my town.
Few children in the Atlas Mountains appreciate school. Learning French grammar, Arabic grammar and geometry does not lead to future jobs in this region, thus children quickly lose interest in higher education. Parents do not encourage school attendance as they also see little purpose. Mothers prefer to have their older daughters at home to help with other children, laundry and cooking.
I want to build a high school in Aremd, the largest of the village of the Atlas Mountains. There are eleven villages in the surrounding area with xxx number of potential high students (7-12th grade). This school, Atlas Mountain Central High, would teach practical skills to young people, which they could use to find a job in the community.

THE VILLAGE OF ARMED [AROUMD]
AROUMD, MOROCCO
Aroumd (pronounced "arr-umm-n-d", also spelt Armed, Arempt) is a small Berber village in the Ait Mizane Valley of the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Its population is around 1,900. Its altitude is 1900 m above sea level.[1] Aroumd is 40 minutes' walk up the valley from Imlil, and is quieter and seen as more traditional. Aroumd is the highest village in the Ait Mizane Valley and so forms a good base for summitting Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa. The route into Toubkal passes by Aroumd which is in Toubkal National Park.[2]
Village life is organised primarily by the Association pour le Developpement d'Armed, which is a charity formed by the elders of the village. Recent projects have included resurfacing and widening the mountain roads, and getting electricity and running water to all the houses in the village. Wikipedia
