PARTNERING WITH THE MOONCATCHER PROJECT

We’re working to partner with THE MOONCATCHER PROJECT to help maturing young women in Morocco to understand menstrual and reproductive health. Soumya will be distributing reusable menstrual kits to the women of the Atlas Mountains during her Summer 2023 visit. Here’s how the Mooncatcher Project describes the work that they do:

“Since 2011 The MoonCatcher Project has been making reusable, washable menstrual management kits - "MoonCatcher Kits" - for distribution to girls around the world, along with a menstrual and reproductive health curriculum. We provide the information and supplies they need to manage menstruation with dignity and confidence, increasing their chances of staying in school. Every person should be able to participate in their education and community life every day of the year.”

CLOTHING DONATIONS FOR GIRLS

This is a collaboration with the Emma Willard School (www.emmawillard.org) and the Awsatakh Association for the Development and Conservation of the Environment. Emma Willard has agreed to host a clothes drive, organized by the students who will then sort, clean, and ship the clothes to Morocco. The Awsatakh Association is working with Soumya to help distribute them during her Summer 2023 trip. If successful, we expect this initiative to continue on an annual basis. We are still in need of funding to transport the clothes from Emma Willard campus to the Atlas Mountains.
